Rissi Palmer’s “No Air” Video Shoot

I am writing to you from the balcony of my unbelievable room at the Nikki Beach resort overlooking the beach in the balmy Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean, where I’m shooting my video for “No Air”. The video is being directed by Kristin Barlowe, the lady behind my first video, “Country Girl,” and this time around, her new little girl will be with us!!! I’m really excited about this trip and even more excited about having a visual to go along with the song. I hope you all are going to love it.

I look out around me and think to myself, “I can try for years and years and never really deserve the blessings that God gives me. I don’t know why, but I am ETERNALLY thankful.” This is my second day here and, trust me, I have been soaking it up. I’ve gotten some great beach workouts in and spent a lot of time “bronzing” in the sand, albeit with SPF 70 on. (I know it’s high, but I don’t want to look like a handbag when I’m 60.) Everyone here is so kind and so beautiful, this is truly the closest you can get to heaven on earth. We’ve been invited to the hotel dinner, or “Naked Sushi,” tonight at the resort. (Yes, I said “Naked Sushi.” That’s where they serve sushi off of a naked person. … I may have to pass on the California rolls tonight.)

While I think about all of my blessings, I am saddened and my heart goes out to everyone who is being affected by the floods, especially my hometown of St. Louis. I ask that you all say a prayer tonight, as I will be doing. I am reminded of something my grandmother always says: “But for the grace of God go I.” … Ain’t that the truth.
